I love The End, but parts of it (mainly the Oedipal section I just referenced) get really weird, and it’s pretty disjointed. Like most songs Morrison wrote, I guess.
Overall LA Woman is better, but parts of The End are some of Morrison’s best work IMHO (parts of it are also some of his worst too I suppose).

JM’s stuff is definitely hit and miss. What I like most about his poetry is the words he strings together. They don’t always make sense, but they sound good together, much the way notes in a song sound good together. H e’s got some issues, and he’s definitely pushing the boundaries of the 1960s, and it’s important to keep it all in that context.
